SEASONAL CALENDAR
Welcome to our Seasonal Calendar page. Here, you'll find detailed information on the best travel times and seasonal highlights. Use this as a reference guide, ensuring unforgettable journeys year-round.
High Season | July - October | Botswana's high season features dry weather with cool mornings and evenings, and hot days. It's the best time for wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources, making big cats and large herbivores easier to spot. The Okavango Delta is ideal for mokoro and boat safaris due to high water levels. Bird enthusiasts can enjoy the arrival of migratory species. Cultural experiences like local festivals and traditional dances are also highlights. Roads and trails are in good condition, facilitating easier travel. |
Shoulder Season | April - June | During the shoulder season, temperatures are moderate with warm days and cooler nights. This period offers increasingly good game viewing as water sources dry up, concentrating wildlife. The Okavango Delta's water levels rise by June, allowing for water-based activities. Birdwatchers will find active resident birds and some migratory species. The landscape is lush from receding rains, providing stunning views and excellent photography opportunities. Fewer tourists mean a more exclusive experience. |
Low Season | November - March | The low season is marked by the rainy season, with afternoon thunderstorms and hot, humid conditions. Wildlife is more dispersed due to abundant water, but calving season attracts predators. Birdwatching is excellent, with many migratory species and breeding activity. The landscape is vibrant and lush, with dramatic skies ideal for photography. The Okavango Delta has lower water levels but remains navigable, and some lodges offer special rates. This season offers the best rates and fewer crowds, though some areas may be inaccessible due to flooding. |
